Barbara Blewman- Hand made
jewellery
Barbara was born in Wellington in 1961. She spent several years travelling through Australia, Europe, North America and Africa, before completing a Diploma in Craft Design in 1989. After graduating with a major in jewellery she ran an Access jewellery workshop in Nelson. Intuitively linking Pacific and Byzantine influences, Blewman produces work rich in surface texture. Driven by process her techniques involve scribing, etching, enamelling and riveting, using silver, copper, gold and gold leaf. Through continuing to develop these seemingly simple yet complex processes she creates a subtle blend of alchemy and intricacy.
