Nic Wooding is a multi-media artist who mainly indulges in creating handcrafted jewellery since the late 1980’s.
Antiqued dark recesses; shiny, hammered or matt surfaces; the subtleties of silver combined with the warmth of copper and gold... Nic relishes the endless potential and challenge of creating miniature artworks in metals, while a sparkling gem or found treasure may add to the colour and texture and even be the inspiration for a piece.
Nic’s unique use of motifs, symbols and icons - often sourced from ethnic Pacific and Maori influences - reflect her sense of belonging to Aotearoa while other designs may have a sense of fun and/or lyrical commentary in with the mix.
“A thorough exploration of concepts or themes I can embrace and run with keeps my workbench alive… Where isn’t there inspiration?”
